Spring & Summer Capsule Wardrobe Inspo
I am probably in the minority when I say that I LOVE getting dressed and styling my outfits. As a girl who spent 12 years in Catholic school wearing a uniform everyday, I found the lack of personal style involved really didn’t suit my personality. Which is probably why I worked for Bloomingdales as a personal stylist when I was starting my business in 2014. And that led me here, where I get to create capsule wardrobe inspo for you!
This is the part of The Daily Kell that I most love, creating beautiful outfits that are achievable. And while I may sometimes share items that are splurge worthy or not in your price range, these looks are achievable at any budget. And that is why I LOVE fashion so much. Looking great doesn’t have to break the bank.
Here are my top picks this week for capsule wardrobe inspo for spring + summer. I hope you love them.
THE DENIM SKIRT | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
Denim skirts are all the rage. And I love the details on this one with the buttons, allowing for a customized look, depending on the size slit you want. I’ve kept this look rather casual and added a lady cardigan and some butterscotch accessories. This would also look great with a striped tee and sneakers or flip flops.

THE SUNDRESS | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
Over the last several years, I have started to truly become a fan of dresses. Prior, I was always opting for cropped pants or cargos or trouser shorts. Maybe it was me rebelling from all those years of having to wear a dress to school everyday. Thankfully, I have outgrown my dress pause. I love the style on this one because it is cinched at the waist and I love that it has a blouse-like collar. I opt for neutral tones, blue being one of the few colors I love and wear frequently.

WHITE DENIM | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
White denim is a versatile wardrobe staple. Here I am pairing these white denim jeans with a fun graphic tee and a denim jacket. Swap out the sneakers and top with some strappy sandals or a block heel sandal with a tank top or blouse for a less casual look and style.

THE CROPPED TRENCH | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
Trench coats are one of my favorites. There is something so classic and chic about them, elevating a casual outfit into something a bit more interesting. And now, with the introduction of the cropped trench, we have even more styling options. This army green color is a great a neutral that still provides color in your wardrobe, while being neutral enough to swap in and out of looks.

THE LADY CARDIGAN | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
Lady cardigans and lady jackets are my kryptonite! I have more than I probably need; however, I wear every single one of them. They can easily pair with jeans, trousers, shorts, cargo pants, skirts and dresses. Even the most basic of outfits, like below, looks instantly elevated when paired with a lady jacket.

THE STRIPED BUTTON DOWN | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
If you have been following me here or on socials for any length of time, you will know that I LOVE button down shirts. It’s so effortless but looks so polished and pulled together. This is my go-to, everyday look that is comfortable and can take me from a business meeting to a lunch to running errands.

THE TROUSER PANT | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
It took me a hot minute to get into the trouser trend. For me, it was the pleats, taking me back to the late 80s and early 90s when everything was oversized and baggy. Pleats can be tricky to pull off, sometimes making you look larger in your midsection than you are. When purchasing trousers, opt for a long pant style that is more straight legged with a slight flare, like these. This style is flattering on just about every bodyshape.

THE SHIRTDRESS | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
Another classic look that never goes out of style, the shirtdress. Opt for soft cottons and neutral colors or prints. Pair with a tank top underneath and some sneakers for a super casual vibe. Add a belt to create some dimension at your waist and create an entirely different look. You could also layer a shirtdress with a lady cardigan.

OFF SHOULDER DRESS | CAPSULE WARDROBE INSPO
I love anything off shoulder. It’s a sophisticated look and style that lends itself to instantly being chic. This neutral, floral print is stunning. It hits right at the knee, a tad longer if you’re on the petite side. IT makes for a great wedding guest dress, graduation dress or a party dress. I would leave your neckline bare and opt for a statement earring to keep the attention to the shoulder line, which is the star of this dress.
