Fashion + Style for Women Over 40

Perfect Little Black Dresses Under $60

I have a pretty good stockpile of black dresses. I wear them often for luncheons, dinner parties, business events, birthdays and weddings. Anytime I see ones that are affordable, I add to cart because I know I will get a ton of use out them. Friends often borrow my clothes for events, too. So it’s a win all around. These 4 black dresses under $60 are stylish, chic and incredibly comfortable.

These four dresses are all super comfortable and allow you to move freely in them without feeling stuffed in. Whether you want something a bit more modest or want a more glammed up look, there is something for everyone. I am wearing a size small in each of these dresses. You could easily size up if you prefer a less tailored look.

First up is this beautiful knee length lace dress. I have a designer version of this dress in a dark forest green that I have worn for holiday parties and this one looks and feels identical, but for a fraction of the cost at just $55. Keep in mind that this might be slightly longer on you as I am 5’11” and it hits just above my knee. Still a flattering and modest length. I’ve kept the styling on all of these simple, adding only this strappy sandal from Stuart Weitzman. They are currently on sale for $119, originally $425. I also own these strappy sandals that have a similar vibe for less than $40, and often go on sale for even less.

My second dress is this longer length sweater dress. It is beyond comfy and moves with you. The fabric is a lightweight material in a viscose and polyester blend. It’s worth noting that my skin is pretty sensitive and I can’t wear certain fabrics if they are itchy or scratchy. This is like butter. This dress comes in 7 colors and is currently $45. You could easily wear this dress to a black tie event just by adding a bold necklace or a rhinestone embellished shoe and a stunning clutch. Conversely, you could pair this with a simple flat sandal and go with a more casual style. I have paired it with the same Stuart Weitzman sandal.

Next up is this Cap Sleeve Mock Neck Midi Dress with a high slit. Again, this fabric is delightfully soft and not rough or scratchy. I love the high neckline and the cap sleeve. The slit, while a tad high on me because of my height (mid thigh), can easily be closed to your liking with a few quick stitches or a tag gun. For me, I like the slit because the rest of this dress is modest and more full coverage. And it gives just a hint of sexinesss without feeling uncomfortable. Available in 6 colors and currently $42, making this the most affordable of the black dresses under $60.

My last dress in my series of affordable black dresses under $60 is this Strapless, Sleeveless Bodycon Dress that is the sexiest of them all. From the strapless top, to the backless back to the side slit, this dress screams sexy. Honestly, I don’t typically wear very revealing clothing, but wearing this dress made me feel comfortable and beautiful. The strapless top is supported by a silicone band that keeps the top from slipping down, which I appreciate. I would pair this with a chunky rhinestone statement necklace, a big cocktail ring ang a chic handbag to complete this look. Available in 9 colors at $46.
